The last day i saw her was Dec 26th 2005. We left her house and i really didnt want to go. We were having such a good visit. We waved going down the drive and then waved go down the road. Cody did get to talk to her on the phone. She wanted to tell him that she got him the PSP hand held. She never got to give it to him, but he did get it.

Betty was killed in a car crash. A solo vehicle crash that she was the passenger. The driver survived.

It feels like forever ago that i got the call from Ben, but then i look over to were i was sitting at the time and it is as clear as yesterday. 3 yrs later and its still not easier.

Sunday we did a turn around trip to Mt View to give Nana some flowers for her birthday. As a true Dec baby she loved Poinsettias.

I bought some mini ornaments for the kids to put on it to make it look cute.

After almost 3 years it's still flipping hard

We love you Betty and we would have been making you your prime rib dinner tonight. Hope you and Pop are celebrating in Heaven.

Bill Velasco

Six years ago today my FIL passed away. His Lymphoma had come back after 12 yrs and by the time we found out he had 7 tumors in his brain. We found out on Sept 5th 2002 and he fought for two long months. The day he died it changed everything about the Velasco family. Our Patriarch was gone. Holidays completely changed. Him and Betty made the holidays for our families and half of that was gone. I don't even remember what we did for that thanksgiving but for Christmas we left southern Cali and went to Vegas. Brought a small tree for the kids and presents and made it through the holiday. Normally my FIL made a Christmas feast that could feed a NFL team. Friends and family from the last 30 years would come over that day. Everyone would eat, talk and watch tv. That year we had to get away. Six yrs later it is still hard.

She was actually born in 1932 but when they went to do her birth certificate it was already into the new year '33 adn who ever processed it put 12/22/33. a day that hadn't even happened yet. there were no computers to catch it back then. so she went by 33 instead of 32.

Flashback Friday

Its still Friday so i can say that. With me talking about Halloween and costumes i wanted to look this one up. This was at Betty's house Oct 05. Our last Halloween with her. Ben had the flu and didn't get to do much but we took the kids to a pumpkin patch.

update on costumes................ Kaitlen wants to be a princess, possible Cinderella.......... i have an idea but like i said she doesnt like my handmade stuff.

Cody, thought the shark costume was cool and even suggested he have a scuba mask on, but wants to be a zombie.............

Matthew wants to be a vampire...............

This Cody our first year back here. So i do have a vampire costume somewhere. Cody made a great vampire because he had long hair and a natural widows peak.with gel in his hair it made it dark and to keep it slicked back untill it dried i put a knit cap on his head. :) now matthew has no hair and its blondish.

I was on eBay tonite (ok, when am i not??) and saw this!!! Ka-ute!! huh? Little miss Abigail is going to be this!! with the help of Ashley.......... you in Ashley?? Since it will be cold here in Oct she'll have a leotard on and probably sweatpants :)

Summer Vacation

This year we are going to Branson and staying at the Grand Country Inn We have it planned for 4 days and they have an indoor/outdoor water park that you can use as much as you want and we get a two day pass to Silver Dollar City. Plus miniature golf passes and a bunch of free meals. I think we figured it out that we'd only end paying for a meal on the day we left. Then after we leave there we'll head on over to Mountain View for some fishing and to visit Betty at the cemetery.
Last year we were going to go to the Nickelodeon hotel in Fl but my mom got sick and we spent our vacation there so we had planned on going this summer, but when we called to make reservations the prices had tripled since last yr. (crazy) I think we found something just as exciting, maybe even more exciting for the kids and a heckofa lot cheaper.

pulling Christmas stuff out

I was getting other stuff out for the tree (see im trying Alisha, LOL) and i came across two cloth christmas bags. I of course couldnt recycle them they were to cute and from Nana. This one was to Kaitlen. Only Betty called her Matilda (sometimes Emily her cousin did too) but now no one calls her Matilda. Kaitlens name is Kaitlen Marie-Matilda. Bill, Bens dad named her Matilda when i was pg with her and in the hospital we added it to her middle name. Bill had tumors in his brain and we found that out when i was 34 weeks pg with K. He lived till she was 2 weeks old. There werent to many words that he could actually speak but Matilda was one of them.

We miss you so much. Ben has 10 days off and know doubt we would have spent them all with you. Ben would have made you your birthday dinner and we would of had Christmas together. Cody misses you terribly. The day you were killed changed my little boys life. He shouldnt of had to feel that pain.

Go to this post and look at the pic. Ben said it was taken at Disneyland and I said at Medieval times. I was so certain because of what we had on. Well it goes to show how pitiful Betty and I are. Me, Betty and Cody are wearing the same thing at medieval times that we wore to Disneyland except my white shirt here is a long sleeve and at Disney it was short sleeved. LOL. I surprised Ben for his 29th birthday with a trip to Medieval Times. It was great.
