Say hello to

This little guy. He doesn't have a name yet. He was Born 03/30/2010 to Marie (marie is also a March bday, she just turned 1). He is doing great. Very active and nursing right along. I missed his birth by about 20 minutes, one day I'll make it for the big event. (at first i though he was a she and named him Annie which is why some of the pics are saved as Annie)

His Daddy is Chivas, my black nigerian dwarf. That is why he is so tiny. That is a 12" ruler Cody is holding.

At just one day old he was climbing...

and falling.
ok, Those wondering about Eljin. He died the day after he was born and I was to upset to announce it. Poor Ben probably though I was crazy crying after little E when we only had him a day. Ben even promised to 'get me another Eljin' to make me happy. We didn't get a replacement buckling and I know those things happen, but not my little guys! and my very first baby goat. Now that this new guy is here there are HUGE differences between him and E.

Our little Farm

Here are the animals we recently added to our family. Of course if you are on my FB you all ready know this.
This is Marie. Im hoping she gets pg in November and once she has baby we will have milk, cheese, yogurt...

This is Chivas (goat in spanish) he is Marie's husband to be ;)

Next, say hello to Dinner. Really, his name is dinner. He will be our turkey on Thanksgiving.

Here is one of our roosters hanging with Dinner. Remember the chicks we got. Only 2 of the Rhode Island Reds ended up being hens. The rest were roosters. This guy was a late bloomer, I had actually thought he was a hen because the other roosters were VERY obviously roosters, him... not so much. Surprisingly I did not name the chickens. The Bantams are doing good, small, not really what i needed. They are pretty, but I want hardy egg layers.

Little Pip

Cody asked if he could have a guinea pig for his birthday and I said yes, piggies actually like company so it's a really good thing. Cody got an early bday present and got Pip today.

as you can see Pip is much smaller than Bugsy/bullet/sniper
and yes, Kaitlen wants a guinea pig too.

Matthew's early Bday gift

Since we cant really hide him for 3 weeks. He got a guinea pig. He at first named him Sniper, but the kids talked him into calling him Bugsy. (Then it dawned on me they go Bugsy from the movie Bedtime Stories)

now they are calling him Bullet because he is so fast.

my Dad got a puppy

My dad got a puppy yesterday. I think he named him Bandit. My dad is so excited he even told the breeder that he wasn't even this excited when his own kids were born. (thanks poppy) He has spent over 150$ on line at petsmart, lol and who knows how much more at the local stores. I think someone needs to throw dad a baby shower.

Stupid Idiot Cow >:/

So, i get up this morning and the dogs are barking. There is a young cow in our yard. So i go out to try and get it out of our yard and it charged Swayze. Well, swayze got out of the way.

The cow then went after 13 y/o old, practically blind, hard hearing PJ. He rolled him, trampled him. I was screaming and crying. Ben ran outside and nailed him with a soda can. NADA. He threw something else at him. NADA. He ran in and got his gun and fired off a couple shots.
(me still screaming and crying)

The cow ended up in the corner and we had to call out county to find out who it belonged to. Our neighbors down the road got their horses and rounded it up.

we know who the owner is and he'll have to pay for pjs surgery to fix his tooth. (hope he's not to old for surgery) We could have shot the cow. Had he tried to attack again, Ben was going to.

What a way to start our Sunday. Oh, no vets open on weekend. PJ has to wait till monday. :(

The chicks

I know, those of you on my myspace have already seen it, but I have to share it with the rest of the peeps. They will be going outside this wednesday!! TG. our plan over the weekend didnt work out. Their new home is bigger than we thought and we have to make sure cats and snakes can't get them.

Since the couple days that have past since i taped this, now 4 and 5 at a time will roost on the edge of the tub.

My Chickies are growing up

They can get out of their temporary home. We will be moving them to a bigger temporary home this weekend. It's actually so big it's on the deck. So they'll be outside :( They are super fun in the house. The one in the pic is one of the Bantam chicks, I need to take a pic of one of the reds, they are so much bigger.

Spot the impostor?

Some days I kill myself. I put the rubber duck in there just to see what they'd do and they formed a semicircle and starred at it. I don't think they were happy at all! omg, It made me laugh.
My silly chicks.

1st chick funeral

See the little guy in between the two bigger chicks. well yesterday he wasn't doing so well and today he died.
I guess if they get turned on their side and get trampled by the other chicks that will kill them :( I'm guessing that's what happened on the way home yesterday. So Ben dug a hole and Kaitlen put the chick in it and Cody said the eulogy, "He was a good Chickie".
Matthew knew he was getting ready to die so Matthew held him. Matthew is such an animal lover.

Cute Chicks

Well, the one guy I initially emailed never emailed back again, which is fine because he made it seem impossible to raise chicks and there is more to it than 'raising' them. Well, I figure I've kept Tiki (our bird) happy and healthy for 5 years now. I can handle chickens. Today was Matthews Easter party at school and Abbie was in no mood for it so Ab and I went to Tractor supply and what did we hear???? little bitty chicks chirping away. So i got 11 chicks. 6 of them are Rhode Island Reds and 5 are Bantams.
This was right when we got home and i realized i forgot bedding for them, lol.

Not the Abinator!! noooo, we've heard of the Abinator!!!

Don't you love little chubby hands. (Thats oatmeal on her face)

I got their heat lamp on them.

Eating and drinking happily.

That ones my favorite.

awwwwwwwwwww

This is what a Rhode Island red looks like all grown.

These are some Bantams. I guess they can have a variety of looks and they are naturally small birds and lay really small eggs. hmmmm, should have read up on them before getting them. I figured they cost .50¢ more than the others, that there was something special with them.

My neighbor owes me 5$

or a new bail of hay. Last week i put a bail of hay in front of the trampoline so the kids could climb in and out without my help. Today i notice a cow in our yard when i left to take M to school. The cow was still there when i got back so i took a pic. I then realize the bail of hay is no longer a bail of hay!!!! That's why the cow is hanging out there. lol. Life in the country.

Barn Cats

We keep barn cats. 1) to keep the mice out of our house. 2) keep snakes away. 3)because Ben is allergic to cats and loving pet cats do not make out in the country. We have tried.
So our barn cats are not our pets and i no longer name them.

So meet Sparkles... I said i don't name them, lol. She is a tiny 6 month old female that we got from a different town. Her mama was a barn cat and that's all she has known.

This is Chief. He is Sparkles half older brother. None of us named Chief. He came to us with that name. His owner is a cop too.

Kitty kat holding the kitty.
See Abbies grubby hands?

No need to call PETA or the ASPCA. Sparkles was not hurt or injured in any way in the next sequence of pictures.

You see puppy? He arrived today. Ab was a little unsure as he was so shiny and perfect. So i showed her puppy's friend that came with him and she got so excited and started saying," Machew, machew, a puppy for you". so sweet, she gave him the puppy. Puppy freshened up after his long trip with a nice hot bath with all of us and was transformed into his old gruff looking self. All was good.

Here is orange male cat who we see about once a month. His name is Sunshine, i'm sure he appreciates such a manly name.

Two other cats showed up last week. One is a striped male and the other is a black cat. I have no idea if it's male or female. They won't come anywhere near us, but they have decided to live here.
