The last time I heard Moms voice

It was a Wednesday and hospice had got her pain under control. She called me and I wasn't home and she left a message. The next couple times I called she was asleep. Then she was at the point were she was unable to speak and my sister Jackie held the phone up to Moms ear and I got to speak to her. Jackie said she could see Moms eyes moving. She knew I was talking to her.

I have had this message on my machine for over a year now and my machine has been full for almost a year. I will erase my machine soon. Not tomorrow, probably not even the day after, but soon.

Christmas in Dixie

I was sewing Lily's dress last night and Thomas had put on country music in the kitchen and him and the kids went to watch TV. I was in the toy room where my sewing machine is. The radio started playing Christmas in Dixie by Alabama. I knew the song. I didn't know all the words but i knew the song. Like a familiar smell from your childhood but you just can't place it, but it's comforting. Made me think of my mom. I could just see her humming around the house especially the kitchen. Then it hit me its Christmas and moms not here. Our Georgia Peach, our hummingbird. not here. I sat and started crying. Thomas ended up walking through the room asking whats wrong and the others flocked followed. They were so good and Kaitlen sat in my lap and gave me a kiss and said," you know,sometimes moms die" so sincere. She made me smile. I went back to sewing and eventually back to singing along with the radio.

Chicken Soup for my Kaitie's soul

Last night I made homemade chicken noodle soup for kaitlen. Well, we all ate it for dinner, but it was for her. When she asked what was for dinner and i told her she said,"THATS MY FAVORITE" It has been ever since I made it for Mom the first time we went back to see her. Chemo was getting the best of her and it "hit the spot" so Kaitlen and Nana would share a bowl and Nana would also give her a swollow of her milk. Kaitlen was tickeled that my mom called it a swallow.

The same day kaitlen was dx'd with pneumonia i was dx'd with viral bronchitis and let me tell you out of anything i've taken for this cold the soup has made me feel the best.

Making a memorial for Mom

I'm still working on it, but i'm more than happy to share it with you all now. :) You'll just have to remember to check back later when there is more on it.

I would have called you today. It's Oct. 1st. 6 yrs ago you called me on Oct 1st and told me,"Only 18 more days" I didn't have a clue what you meant. So you told me only 18 more days until the baby is due. So every yr after Kaitlen was born (on Oct 18th :) I would call you on the first of Oct and ask you, "Do you remember what you said to me (1 yr, 2 yrs, 3yrs ect) ago? You never remembered, LOL. It wouldn't have been you if you had remembered. I'd tell you that you called and what you had said.

Mom, today i would have called you. I would get to hear your voice. One more "Hey Baby" I would have talked to you today. We would have laughed.

Happy Mothers Day Mom. I love you. Today is hard. i would have called you today. its been 38 days since i have talked to you. You couldn't talk anymore then but i got to talk to you anyway. You died the next day. You are still on my machine. I just can't clear the messages off. I can't press that button. I love you.

Mom arrived today

She is on my mantel with the Lladros she left for Abigail and Kailten.

My sister-in-law put a pic in of Mom and Toby and I love it.We were leaving to run a bunch of errands and i got the mail when we were in the car already. So mom went on a tour of NWA. We picked up the boys from school. Took Matthew to speech. Hit McDonalds. Then headed to Sams club. After Sams we go to Walmart, of course. Then we came home. Today is the first day mom has ever been to my house and now she's here to stay.
Im glad this is what she decided to do. Im glad i physically have her.

are my two all time favorite foods (Pizza too) they were my moms too. We are having pizza tonight at Bens work. He's working all day today so we are going to go meet him. Maybe we'll have some icecream later too :)

Matthew and Kaitlen

i was going to the bathroom and Matthew came in to go to. so we are face to face talking as hes waiting for me to go and he goes to put his hand on the door jam and says.... Hey, someone tickled my hand, with a laugh in his tone. He rubbed his hand as to itch it and then looked out side the bathroom door to see if anyone was really there. So i asked, someone tickled your hand? and he said yes. we both kinda giggled. when he went to put his hand back there i noticed he did a quick glance to make sure no one was there.

He may be taking after Ben.

Kaitlen asked me to go over where she was at. She was looking out the window. She says, you see that? I said, yes. She tells me, thats las Vegas, my mom lives there. So i say she does?..... yeah.

She was looking at the sun setting out our window. it was lighting up that area of sky. When you are in Vegas and away from the strip it lights up the sky in that area. She's really sad about my mom being gone.

tornado procedure poll, lol

OK you guys i made a poll and put the answers i could think of. So if you live in an area that gets tornado's please answer the poll. what i want to know is are we like over paranoid and take cover when others may not have taken cover??
I am really missing our Earthquake's. I would take an Earthquake over this tornado stuff any day. Im pretty sure its a go with what you know thing because i've heard people here say oh no they would take a tornado over an earthquake any time. even people who have never been in a quake they are just that afraid of them.
Now from what i can remember i have only taken cover 3 times for Earthquakes. the others were fast enough you didn't need to duck and cover. I could probably guess and say that i have felt around 30 earthquacks in my life while in Cali. It take like a 4.0 for you to stop and say, Hay!! we had a quake. I'll come back and update what the 3 duck and covers measured.

ok, the hector mine quake, we got in the door jam it was a 7.1 and cody was almost a month old.
The northridge quake, we got under the table and i thought it would never end. it was a 6.7. The landers quake was a 7.3. Thomas was 6 months old. me Tina and thomas got under the table. really scary. THose were the 3 quakes i remember taking cover in. Here is another big one, Whittier Narrows 5.9, but i didnt take cover. I was in 7th grade brushing my teeth getting ready for school and it started. Mom was still in bed. Im not sure what tina was doing. Now Ben probably has his own story on that one because he lived in Whittier. ok, thats my earthquake story. oh, earth quakes either jolt or roll. jolts are quick and done with, rollers last and just keep going. thats when alot of damage happens.

i have 1 minute of recording time left on my answering machine. I'll have to erase my messages. The thing is my mom is on there. I don't want to erase it but i know i need to. Now i do have her on my old machine. I bought a new phone and put the old machine up because she was on it. So i will have a recording but hate to erase this one.

Out to dinner

We took Ashley Lily and Jason out to dinner for watching the two boys for us. Yummy Mexican food. Abbie for a change was wanting to play with Lily and Lily was not having any of that, lol. She scooted over in her high chair away from Abbie. The girls ate crackers shared goldfishies and were really good.
Jason was running late and would meet us there. no problem. So Ashley orders for him. Enchilada plate and fruit punch. When dinner comes they bring him a child's plate. one little enchilada and little bit of beans and rice, lol. that poor guy. we take him out to dinner and feed him a kids plate. and yes, his punch was in a styrofoam cup with a lid. they did bring him a second enchilada but it was way later when he got it.
on the way out Ashley grabs Abbie from Thomas (and i avoid eye contact with abbie) and by the time we get to the car abbie wants to stay with Ashley. says no when we put are arms out to her. this went on for 5 minutes and i finally had to get her and she cried,lol. She has NEVER let someone other than me, ben or thomas hold her. shes becoming a big girl.
now that i think about Matthew, kailten and cody were very quiet during dinner. that was weird. Busy eating.
