Matthew? Really?

Matthew had speech today and after he was done his teacher wanted to talk to me. There is a preschool in the same building and the teachers there asked her if she knew any 4 y/o's that would want to go to school and be a role model for the other kids there so they can see how a "normal" child behaves. When i say normal i mean a child raised in a stable home. The kids in the class come from some pretty bad homes. NOW, Matthew (aside from Abigail) is my maniac, lol. So i kinda laughed and when I told Ben he kinda laughed, but his speech said when the teachers asked, matthew was the first to come to her mind. So if we decide yes, then he'll go from 8:15 to 11:15. Matthew likes to sleep in so this will be rough. They do have an afternoon class but it ends at 3:30 and I would have to be late everyday to pick up matthew by about 10 minutes because Im picking up the other kids.

If he went to be a t a "normal" time like my kids..lol he would get up at 5 am. That would be fun for him. I can't wait til Abbie starts school.. all the people...LOL

It would be a good start for kindergarten. I think that is so awesome they picked Matthew, that has to make you feel like a good Momma! Since my kid has never been a sleeper, morning preschool was a no brainier for me. You all are lucky your kiddos sleep in!

I'd have to give Abbie a xanax before sending her to school.

I don't know if I would want my kid being 'exposed' to all the (using your terms here) 'non-normal' kids. My five year old tends to pick up other children's behaivor pretty quickly and I'd be concerned she would start acting like the other kids in no time. But then again, my kid is an only child and Matthew is already used to all his siblings behaivors and is not swayed by them.

Regardless - you should be very proud of him for being asked, that shows what a great kid he is!

I thought of that too and Im not sure which way Matthew would go, be a leader or a follower. If his behavior changed I'd pull him from the program. I do know matthew wont back down from a fight so if a kid acts out like that matthew would go toe to toe with him. i didnt see any violent kids, but def emotionally hurt ones.
